Do they even make these? Or is it really not that big of a hassle to switch back and forth?

  1. It's not that much of a hassle to switch convertible car seats...no much more so than a base and carrier.  I looked high and low for the same type of thing but was unable to find it anywhere.

  2. I dont think that they make these at all. At least I have yet to see one.

  3. I don't believe they make these.  When they are old/big enough to fit in the forward facing you wouldn't want to carry them around in the carrier anyway - too heavy.

If you are talking about switching back and forth between cars, it's not that bad but if you were needing to do it daily maybe consider two seats, one for each car.

  4. The one my sister had was easy to change back and forth. I'm not sure if they make detachable ones. Check on the website for the brand that you want to get.

  5. I have never seen a forward facing car seat with a detachable base.

If you are asking if it is a hassle to move the car seat from one car to another then I would say yes.

  6. I don't think they make those [for front-facing], I think they only  make the 'detachable base' for the Travel Systems ..

(so you can easily pop the car seat into the stroller ..)

I have a Britax convertible car seat and it only takes me about 10 minutes to switch it back and forth between our two cars.

(I'm not good with anything mechanical tho, my husband can switch it back and forth in 5 minutes! :)

  7. I believe the Orbit toddler seat attaches to a base in the rear-facing position. They are pretty darn expensive, however. $300 for just the seat (not including the base).

  8. they dont make them but why would you want one with all the recalls on the rear facing bases? I just bought 2 convertable carseats one for my van and one for dads truck. because we rarely all go in the truck I use that one to switch back and forth from grandmas truck to daddys. and rarely take the one out of my van.

  9. Convertible seats really aren't that difficult to switch between vehicles.  The seat is positioned in the car, the seat belt is threaded through the belt path, tightened, and buckled, and the top is attached with a tether (if forward facing).  It takes me less than 5 minutes to swap out my convertible seat.
