Forward service requested what does that mean?

I got a package in the mail with forward service requested on it what does that mean?I've never seen that when i buy things.

It will be forwarded to your new address, and a notice card sent to the sender to update your address.  In order words they then will have your new address...They do that a lot in skip tracing, to locate people who have moved and did not let their creditors know where they have moved to...or utility companies where to send the final bill...

The hospital I work for uses that in the billing department for patients or guarantors that have moved......thank you

It means if you have moved, the sender wants the post office to forward the package and send them (the sender) the bill for the additional postage.
