I am being evicted next week, am single mum with 2 months baby and suffering from serious health problems including severe depression and no family in the UK, the council will provide us with temporary accommodation but till now i have no idea what my new address is going to be. I usually receive quite many letters and the landlord is asking me for a forwarding address, what shall i do? Do you think the post office can assist me with this, or is it the council that deals with it. I am not sure. pls help.

Thanks in advance

  1. Sorry to hear about your situation, you must be having a hard time.

The post office can collect and store your mail for a certain amount of time for a fee, until you know your new address. Unless you have a friend or neighbour who would be willing to have your mail forwarded there and you could collect it?

  2. Your best bet would be to rent a post office box to receive your mail at. The post office will set up up for a fee. Council doesn't deal with your change of address. If your getting another Council home, they should give you an address soon.

  3. Hi

Sorry to hear about your situation.

If you contact your local post office.  Mail Collect is a free service that lets you collect mail from your local Delivery Office for up to one month.

You do not have to give your landlord your new address if you do not want to.
