Forza 4 developers do not need a Xbox 720
Everyone in the Interactive Entertainment (read, ‘video game’) Industry is already looking forward to the next generation of consoles and what they will be capable of. It seems however, that Turn 10, the developers behind the upcoming Forza 4, are more than
content with Microsoft’s current generation console, the Xbox 360.
Many may wonder if the studio are just trying to be different to be cool, which is not the case, but rather Turn 10 seem to have unlocked the hidden potential of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and created some of the best visuals on the console. The models of the
cars in the game look so real that they could give the premium models in Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 5 a run for their money, or rather a race.
Another feature the game is set to boast, apart from the models of the cars which one could take pictures of and put up as posters in their room, is the fact that it does have certain Kinect features which may not be game changing but add a nice new dynamic
to the game.
Basically, gamers can use the Kinect to manipulate the camera as they inspect every gorgeous detail of the models of the cars in the game. This includes the iconic Warthog from the Halo series, which has also found its way onto the roster of cars which will
appear in the game. Other cars included in the game comprise the Nissan GT-R and the Nissan 370z, while McLaren, Aston Martin and Volvo are also set to have a number of models feature as well.
The tracks, where the actual racing will take place, are also confirmed to have received the same treatment as the cars have, which is a meticulous level of attention to detail and a sense of photorealism which cannot be found anywhere else. It would not
be a story about Forza if there was not a comparison to its closest rival in the genre, Gran Turismo 5.
The latter left a bitter sweet taste in one’s mouth, as the premium car models shined throughout the experience but the standard models, which did not have as much detail, looked as if they had been ported over from previous consoles. The driving mechanics
and gameplay was solid but the overall experience felt incomplete, something that Forza 4 is looking to steer clear of.
Forza 4 is another Xbox 360 exclusive title and much like other Triple A titles, it is also known to move a few consoles. One can almost be certain of an Xbox 360 Forza 4 bundle pack to be announced come the game’s release. In the meantime though, gamers
will have to satisfy themselves with the recently released screenshots.
