Forza Denmark International 2012: Henri Hurskainen topples Rune Ulsing to claim Men’s Singles title
Sweden’s Henri Hurskainen showed his impressive craft when he bagged Men’s Singles title after toppling Denmark’s Rune Ulsing in the final contest of Forza Denmark International 2012 on Saturday, May 5, in Denmark.
The World Number 43 Hurskainen, who was seeded at number 3 in Men’s Singles draw of Denmark International, was one class above his local opponent and took the battle with a surprising ease.
The higher ranked Swedish played with wonderful game plan and did not let his opponent to level the score even for a single time in the entire competition and wrapped up the title by beating the Danish in two games.
On the other hand, Ulsing was no match to the in-form Hurskainen in the final contest as he failed to cope up with the pace of rallies and lost the fight easily in just 33 minutes.
Right from the starting points, Hurskainen kept his hold over the pace of rallies and remained in complete control. He did not let Ulsing to find a good momentum and remained ahead on the board.
Until the mid-game interval, the Danish shuttler was trailing behind his Swedish opponent at 5-11.
After the break, Hurskainen maintained his upper hand by keeping the pace of rallies high and did not lose his focus at any stage.
The third seeded Hurskainen was in full control of rallies and ended the opening game easily with a huge margin of 21-14.
In the second game, Ulsing tried to play better badminton but failed to shake the boat of his higher ranked opponent who again took an impressive lead at the early stage.
Until the one-minute break, Hurskainen was sailing smoothly by reaching at 11-5.
After the break, the in-form Swedish continued his aggressive run in the match as he remained consistent in his positive shots.
The third seeded Hurskainen was on a different level against Ulsing and he managed to take the second game with an incredible 21-11 margin on the score board.
Hurskainen won this 33-minute title match against Ulsing in a convincing fashion by a remarkable score of 21-14 and 21-11.
