Forza Denmark International 2012: Line Damkjaer Kruse – Marie Roepke wrap up Women’s Doubles title
Denmark’s Line Damkjaer Kruse and Marie Roepke showed their elevated class when they wrapped up Women’s Doubles title at the Forza Denmark International 2012 in Denmark, on Saturday, May 5.
In the title match, Line and Marie defeated England’s Lauren Smith and Gabrielle White with a close margin.
The World Number 23 Line and Marie, who were placed at the top in Women’s Doubles main draw of the event, played positive and aggressive badminton and remained successful in winning the crown.
Line and Marie had to work really hard to beat their English rivals in a straight-set contest that took tremendous badminton from both sides.
On the other hand, Lauren and Gabrielle played well but not enough to deny victory to their higher ranked Danish opponents in a hard-fought match that took 37 minutes of attacking badminton from both pairs.
In the opening set, the top seeded Danish shutter tried to set up an early lead but their lower ranked English opponents also played at the same level.
Both pairs continued playing aggressive and composed badminton until the one-minute interval where they remained close on the board.
After the mid-game break, Line and Marie tried to lift their game but failed to take any benefit as their rivals were positive in the court.
The score reached at 18-18 when Line and Marie showed their impressive skills as they played with extreme aggression and bagged two consecutive points to win the game with a decent score of 21-18.
In the second set, Line and Marie remained ahead on the board from the starting points and they maintained their upper hand until the break when they were ahead on the board at 11-9.
After the one-minute break, Lauren and Gabrielle changed their game plan and caught up their local opponents by reaching at 12-12.
At this stage, Line and Marie played mature game as they kept the bird flat and did not let their challengers to play an attacking game.
The top seeds managed to bag the second game in a tight fashion by a 21-19 score on the board.
Line and Marie clinched Women’s Doubles crown by winning the final showdown by a close margin of 21-18 and 21-19.
