Foster Home/Animal Rescue advice please!!!!

Question

OK, here's what I want to do:

I want to open a foster home for older children and the mentally impaired...the two least likely to get adopted . I also want to open an animal shelter/rescue organization. I think the two will compliment each other quite well! The older kids can help out with the animal shelter, feeding, and taking care of the animals....it will give them something to do and keep them out of a lot of trouble (I know it did for me when I was a teen) Also the children with mental and physical disabilities will benefit from having the animals around and it will in all help everyone out.

I am only 22 right now, and I know that I would probably not be eligable for fostering children right now but I need to start planning this now and get a head start. Before anyone asks, yes I have experiance with all kinds of animals, and children including children with disabilities...

I know that it's going to take a lot of money also, but I have a good job now, and like I said I'm speaking for the future so I have time to save.....I just need advice...perhaps from people who have done this...about how to go about starting things and etc..

I think that is a great idea! Animals are the best therapy for children. I run a horse rescue but I wouldn't know where to start with the other, kids. You can talk to your local animal shelter about starting a rescue for animals. They can answer your questions and help you set something up(depending where you live). There is an equine theraputic program in my town and I have seen some amazing results. Good luck to you and there should be more like you out there!
