She is 4, about to return to her birth parents in 3 weeks or less, and now spends majority of her week, with them. She has a mental health history., and sees a psychiatrist.

The social worker told me yesterday, that she said I pinch her, which of course isn't true. and is this normal? I am scared that my husband and I will have our ability to care for kids revoked or worse.

FYI: the social worker didn't seem worked up.... she understands this sometimes happens

  1. I dont have direct experience with this, but I was there for close family friends of mine when something similar happened to them. Their house is full of foster kids ranging in all ages, and a wonderful house at that... A crazy neighbor lady accused the foster mom of all sorts of insane stuff that wasnt true at all. Everyone in the family was upset and scared about what might happen, but the county did a large investigation, both undercover and not, and every charge was deemed unfounded. I think that in a situation like this if you know that you are innocent, you dont need to freak out or be upset, you just need to know that is not true, and that truth will prevail. I think the system also has dealt with this kind of stuff a lot. But if you freak out too much, it might look like you have something to hide.

  2. It's just like you said. If the social worker didnt get too worked up about it- I wouldn't worry. I am sure they are used to kids doing that kind of thing. They see it on a regular basis. The fact that the little girl has mental health issues, will be a plus on your side. It sounds to me though...if a couple gets their child removed from their custody, there would be very little to motivate me if I was a judge, to give the child back. Most of the time when a child is born with mental issues...it is due to drug or alcohol use during pregnancy.Maybe the child should not go back to the parents.
