Foster care?!(UK)?

Question

Ok, so i asked a question about adoption, now about fostering children.

on my other question, people advised me to look into fostering children, so how would i even go about doing this, and what are the requirments in the UK?

Do i have to be married?

do i have to have a big income?

How about ...i was fostered as a teenager, will this prevent me fostering a child/children??

you don't have to be married or have a big income. you need a spare room with lots of love and patience. The fact you were in care yourself is not a reflection on you at all, you were a child so if anything, will give you an edge on things as you would be able to connect with the children better than others

Any genuine adult can apply to foster.as long as you pass the appropriate interviews,and home study you should be fine.in the UK you can be single,married,cohabiting.you will also get an allowance to help cover costs. the only thing i am not sure about,is if you are single and work(re childcare) .you would have to look into your local authority for that info.but i would have thought that as you were a foster child yourself,you would understand and have empathy for your future foster children.i think it would give you a very good start!. wishing you the best!

Cool .. what a position to be in.

It has nothing to do with being married or on high income.

As for being fostered yourself ... what a BIG plus ... there are so many crying out for people like you ... go for it girl, GO!

I would have thought that the fact you were in foster care yourself would be  a benefit, since you would have unique understanding and experience to offer
