  1. Absolutely not true.  My husband and I were foster parents for many years.  Most foster parents will specify a certain age range of child their willing to foster.  Some prefer under age 5, some a little older, and some prefer teens.  It all depends on what age child the workers know you're interested in fostering.  We ended up adopting three of our children, and they were all different ages when they arrived at our home as fosters.  One was 9 months old, one 2/12, and one 5.  We cared for a variety of different aged children over time.  If a foster parent has a preference about a certain age, they need to talk to their worker and state that.

  2. Not true

  3. Thats not true, my aunt is a foster mother and did not know anyone within the system but requesed infants only and thats what she got.

  4. not true,we took in foster kids all while i was growing up. we got infants and we weren't related to them.

sometimes the kids can not be with relatives or people they know because their whereabouts is needing to be hidden from the parent at the time.

to adopt an infant from the US i would suggest beinga  foster parent first its much easier to do it this route and your more likely to get a baby.
