West Brom goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Foster-c7445 is relishing facing the current English champions Manchester City as the Baggies prepare to host the Citizens this Saturday at the Hawthorns.
The game against City is surely the biggest test for new manager Steve Clarke, who has so far led the club to a string of results. The manager was appointed as Baggies boss following Roy Hodgson’s departure for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
Many thought that Clarke will be unable to fill in Hodgson’s boots, and West Brom will be unable to build upon last season’s 10th place finish.
However, the manager and the team surprised everyone, opening their Premier League campaign with a bang courtesy of a 3-0 victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at the Hawthorns.
Since then, West Brom have played 7 games in the league, and only lost once. The team managed victories against the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 and drew away to Tottenham and Aston Villa.
The club sits at 6th spot, tied to Everton and Tottenham with 14 points. However, West Brom’s biggest test will come this Saturday as the reigning champions travel to the Hawthorns. Even though City have not exactly made the strongest of starts
to the league, they are still unbeaten, and have managed 15 points from 7 games.
Goalkeeper Ben Foster can’t wait for the fixture, and is hoping to help his side manage a victory. The player has been in impressive form lately, conceding only 2 goals at home this season. Foster believes Clarke has helped change the mentality of the side,
and is gunning for the three points. He said:
"Last season it was as if we needed to concede a goal at times before we'd play. We just didn't seem to give it a go last year until we conceded."
"The way we've started this season, without a doubt, is something we've tweaked under Steve Clarke. He likes us to try and attack. If we do that we need to do it as a team, rather than do so as a counter attack. The fact we had such a good start suggests
that we might get something from the Manchester City game because our home form has been very good so far."
