Foster six-under as shadows and fog cut Ballentine's opener short
Marcus Fraser sat atop the leaderboard when play was suspended for the second time at the Ballantine's Championship in Jeju Island, South Korea today, with many players yet to finish their round - and some even yet to start.
The day's play had initially been interrupted by fog and low cloud, keeping players off the Pinx Golf Club course for more than six hours. When play finally resumed, there was only time for less than half the field of players to complete their round before encroaching darkness rendered further play unfeasible.
Among those managing to complete the full complement was Australia's Fraser, who came home seven-under-65. Over a flawless 18 holes, Fraser produced seven birdies - including two batches of three in succession, on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th and then the 8th, 9th and 10th.
But England's Mark Foster also finished the full 18 in decent style, sitting just a stroke off Fraser's lead at six-under - a score that included an eagle on the 4th, though Foster also picked up a couple of bogeys on the back nine.
Wales' Jamie Donaldson was amongst those tied for third place on five-under after 16 holes, while Ernie Els (pictured above), Anthony Kim and England's Oliver Fisher were a shot further back and tied for sixth place on four-under-68, all having finished their rounds.
South Korea's YE Yang managed only to complete one hole before proceedings were bought to a close, though he still managed to grab a birdie.
But Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell could only manage to finish 2-over-par after completing the course, a trio of bogeys leaving the Ulsterman a long way off the pace.
The first round is set to resume tomorrow at 7.00am local time.
