Fostering a child in San Jose, CA?

Does anyone have experience in fostering a child in Santa Clara County?

Before I call them I would like a little more information of what to expect. I read on a website that there would be many court dates and visits by officials.

How often has this occured and do they rummage through your house?

What kind of financial assistance do they provide?

Is the health coverage of the child decent?

Are these children enrolled in schools or do I enroll them?

How long should I expect to have a child?

Are these children very difficult to care for?

Any information would be greatly appreciated, but please answer those questions if you can.

  1. If your concern for Fostering a child is monetary, don't. You would be legally responsible for the child in your care and they could be with you for a short time or a long time, depending on their situation. Difficult to care for usually because of issues that they are in foster care for. But, every case id different. My next door neighbor had a foster child for many years and the boy ended up killing himself. What a tragedy.
