My husband and I are trying to take care of a little baby wild rabbit that's mother seems to have been eaten by our dog. (I know, bad doggy). Does anyone have any experience with anything like this? What are the chances it will survive? It's on day 3 right now and seems to be getting a little stronger.

  1. My friend was in this same situation. She took care of it for a few days, but then it began acting strange. She took it to a shelter after two days. I think the shelter would know best on how to feed them, etc.

  2. I think you should take it to a proper rehab shelter. They have the right stuff there to take care of it- at that small, that young, it really won't survive long, no matter how much you care.

So please find and take it to a local shelter where they can feed and look after it- and release it- properly.

  3. You can try talking to a vet to see what you can bottle feed it or call a wild animal rescue, but watch wild rabbits have fleas and lots of diseases, and more then likely it will die anyhow..

  4. If it's still alive after 3 days you guys must be doing something right.

Our dog brought one up to us one time and the vet said to get it the formula at the pet store for newborn animals and give it with an eyedropper.  They also said to keep it warm in a box with a towel.

    It died anyway though.  :(

  5. Here are a few things I could help you nurse it. To look for information you can go to google.com and search for rabbits. Also, my friend she and her family found some baby wild rabbits. You can search for her and ask her if you'd like. Her name is Gymnast08. Also, if you could PLZ CHOOSE this as BEST ANSWER. thanx, you rock and i hope i helped. Good luck with the rabbit!! : ]

  6. give it milk

  7. ya just keep a blanket inside the cage you got it so it can be warm.  Dont put the cage by any air duct inside your house.  and put the normal things inside the cage to let it eat. Example is cut up cellery, cut up carets, lettus etc.  Also put a top of a gatorade cap inside the cage and fill it with water.  Now every other day you will have to clean out the cage because of the waste from the rabbit.  That should be it and if you want to keep it you can or let it go after a few months...
