It is about to rain I am pretty sure, and storm bad, I am afraid that they might drown in the borrow! What should I do, I havent seen the mother.. Should i make a littl cannopy for them?

  1. as hard as it may sound...leave them alone. if the mother feels like something has been done (even a canopy) she will not return and they will die.

  2. dont touch em or touch anything around them, or else the mother will come back, smell your scent, and then leave, leaving the babies to die. like many animals, they rely on smells, and if they dont recognize the scent, they may be threatened by it, or simply not remember it as their own scent, and then not come back, resulting in death for the babies....

  3. leave them be. the mother probably senses you there. she'll come back to them. just don't touch them! they'll be fine

  4. http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/orpha...  Leave them alone.  Mom doesn't stay with them all day, and they are wild animals.  They will do best if you just leave them be and let mom bunny do her job the way she's supposed to.

  5. put two sticks across the burrow in an "X". The mother usually returns in the afternoon and morning to feed her babies. Watch to see if the X is been moved by the mother. Put some dried grass to insulate the nest and make the nest like it was before you found it. I do not know if you should make a canopy

  6. watch the burrow for a few more minutes and see if the mother is coming, if not get an empty cardboard box or a large container line it with soft tissue paper or a piece of an old blanket and line up the bottom of the box with it. wear some gloves and go out side and very gently and calmly one by one put all of them. in the mean while when their with you feed them baby formula milk in a bottle or a dropper. keep them in a warm place with out too much noise and feed as often as you can

:))) and if the mother Does come back just put the box back in the burrow where it was.

why did i get SO many thumbs down :((((

  7. LEAVE THEM THERE.

Do not touch the nest, do not make a 'canopy'.

Mother bunnies only feed two-three times a day, in the night/evening, and do not spend all day with the bunnies.

They will be fine despite a storm- they're wild bunnies, and have the ability to survive outside weather. If YOU interfer, you're condeming them to death.

'Pretty girl' clearly knows nothing, and is just looks with no brains.

Don't touch them. Don't touch the nest. Don't stare at the nest.

DON'T PUT THEM IN A BOX.

They have not been abandoned, that is nature, for the mother to go and do what she wants during the day (eat, play, make new burrows, whatever) and then come back to feed at night.

    No-one said kill.

    We said ABANDON THE BABIES.

If she smells humans or feels the nest has been messed with, she will abandon the babies, therefore killing them- just because she doesn't actively break their necks or stamp on them, doesn't mean they won't die.

  8. No, it isn't a myth, it's true, the mother will kill the babies if they have your scent on them. I would leave them alone, don't disturb the nest, don't make any changes, it will upset the balance of nature, and possibly result in the death of a baby bunny.

The mom will be back to feed them, she will come mostly at night, but maybe once or twice during the day. We found a nest of baby bunnies buried in our horse manure pile, and we checked on them every day, we did however have to move their nest, to a different place, but we didn't get any human scent on them, and the mom came back at night every day and fed them, then after a week ,the all disappeared, I figure that the mom dragged them off to a different nest, or they got eaten by a predator.

They'll be fine, just keep an eye on the nest, but don't touch it!
