  1. Lots of casinos use one deck now, go back and look at the felt to see that it likely says in very small print:

    "Blackjack pays 6:5"

This yeilds a HUGE house advantage and is not a game worth counting.

There are single deck games that pay 3:2 to my knowledge, but they are very rare, and it is much more complicated due to the effect of the number of players at the table on the number of rounds dealt, and how deeply the deck is dealt.

Single deck blackjack is not my area of expertise.

  2. Never seen a casino that didn't deal single deck blackjack if it was of any size.  Counting is no good, they usually shuffle after each hand, or every other hand (never see enough cards between shuffles to determine an accurate count) and the cards to players are dealt face down and are not turned up until all the action is complete, so you have no clue what is out there (except one dealer card) until after the hand.  They pay out for bj is usually less also.

  3. Well, if you're going to play it anyway go ahead and count cards.  Counting a single deck game is a piece of cake, so it's not like you're putting in a ton of effort. It's most likely 6-5 blackjack (only pays 6-5 for a blackjack) so you won't gain an edge, but you can certainly adjust your play and gauge your bet size based on the count which will still lower the house edge, and make the game more fun in my opinion.

Really though, if there's any other blackjack table at the casino, I'd play there instead. Even a continuous shuffle game has a lower house edge than a 6-5 single deck game, counting or not.

  4. No.  And don't play the one-deck table, as they are bound to have some gimmick on the rules which makes it a better deal for the casino than the regular tables.

  5. In addition to what everybody else said, keep an eye on the payout for naturals.

A lot of casinos will only pay 6:5 on a natural in their single deck games, instead of 3:2. This means they're stealing $1.50 from you on every natural.

  6. They just shuffle the cards, its impossible to count cards.

  7. Lots of casinos offer single deck blackjack.  The problem is that most of them shuffle after 1 or 2 hands, making extremely difficult to accurately get a true count.

  8. Lots of casinos still use one deck. You'll notice that the bet range is fairly limited making it hard to gain advantage using card counting.

Also if you try you still need to manage to get a table with no one else playing. These tables usually deal the player's cards face down. Also if you have more than one player at the table then you only get a limited number of hands between shuffles reseting the count before you get the chance to exploit it.

  9. YES!

You can use a card counting system and beat the casino dealer in a single deck game.

However, many casinos offer single deck, but shuffle after each hand at a crowded table. So there is no advantage to you here.

Find one that does not shuffle after each hand and you can win counting cards. If you play at a table with only 2 -3 players and they shuffle after three hands, then you will find advantageous counts on that third hand once in a while.

But be careful, if the casino suspects you are counting cards, then they just might escort you out!

The Blackjack Betting Trigger is a much better tool, it works with multideck shuffles, and the casinos have not caught on to it yet.
