Found a chick?

Question

in the garden, has no feathers and its eyes aren't open, is it possible to keep it alive and if so how. We have bird in the roof tiles so may have fallen from there.

If it's eyes aren't open yet, and no feathers-it's not eating full insects yet-the parents are still "throwing up"the food already chewed for the chicks.  Your best bet, would be to find the nest and put it back.  If that's not possible, look online or in your yellow pages to see where your nearest animal rescue/nature center is and see if you can drop it off for them to raise properly.

i dont think you would raise the chick in the right way. in that i mean nothing against you but that chick needs care from someone who know's how to deal with this sort of thing. you need to call your local rescue centre or the RSPCA and they will soon be able to help you. here's the number you need to call 0300 1234 555 for the rspca. or if it is out of working hours call the 24hr line on 0300 1234 999. kits good you came on here looking for help but you still can do something better and thats to call the rspca.

its difficult for u shud leave them its mother will call and find her chick just worrying for cats etc.but if worried contact rspb.gud luck

yeh it is, use an old butter tub or somthing and put somthing soft in it, tissue or cotton wool, leave the bird in there and sumwhere as warm as u can, possibly a cupbored where the boiler is, it will need to be fed worms and catter pillas for a while

If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest.  Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched.  If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.  Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.  Look for a rehab here:

I found a baby bird in our garden i kept in a massive tub with holes in i make it a bed and feed it worms and water and used to hold it and stroke it to go to sleep, sadly it only stayed alive for 2 days, i was heartbroken.

I think they can only stay alive with there mom while there young.
