My sister woke up to it's meowing outside and we tried to catch it. It's shaking like there's no tomorrow and keeps meowing. I caught him and put him in our bathroom and he sitting in the corner meowing and hisses when i get too close. I feel really bad for him.

Anything i can do?

p.s.- he's orange-ish with some stripes and green eyes. His eyes are open and he walks around like he's gonna fall.

  1. If you havnt fed him yet dont give him anything heavy like dry food.....just give him some warm milk....stray cats are like that and WILL hiss at you becuz he probably hasnt had care yet....dont try to touch him yet unless he is bleeding or something.....just give him some milk every day for 3 days and check on him every once in a while.....he will soon start to trust you :)

  2. First of all, if his eyes are green, it means he's an older kitten, definitely weaned from momma and on his own.  I would definitely use food as your first point of leverage with the little guy.  A fed kitten is a happier kitten.  Wet cat food really works best when you're trying to get a stray to eat for the first time.  It smells and tastes better to them.

Next, leave him alone while he's eating and getting adjusted to his new place.  In a couple hours, go in and see what he's up to.  Move very slowly and quietly.  Don't talk loudly or make any sudden movements.  He may be feral already, but if he actually is a kitten, there is a lot of hope for you being able to get him used to human contact.  You should gently try petting him, reinforcing this with soft clicking sounds and maybe a treat or more food.

Patience is very important.  He's scared and doesn't know what's going on right now.  Try to be understanding and comforting, and most of all, let him know that you're the good guy; you feed him :)

    Best of luck!

  3. Keep him hydrated and contact the Cats Protection League if you are in the UK or any eqivalents if you are in the US.

He may be carrying a disease of some sorts so getting in contact with a organisation like the CPL would be good as they would give good advise about vets etc.

  4. If you cannot keep the kitty, call the ASPCA. They have a no kill policy and will adopt it. They take excellent care of strays and try to adopt them out.

  5. He's probably starving. Make up a nice warm blanket for him and give him some soft food to eat, and some water to get him hydrated. Keep him warm and keep trying to pet him, he just needs to get socalized and used to human contact. Some warm milk might be good for him, and make sure he has a place to use the bathroom.

  6. thats really sweet how you took in a homeless kitten. shes just really scared right now. i highly recommend you take her to the vet asap for a check up. and go to a pet store near by and go get her some food for kittens and give her some fresh water.

  7. If you are planning to keep the kitten, I recommend you giving it some food and milk, and also to call a veterinarian because your kitten might be sick. If you aren't planning to keep it, I recommend you calling an animal shelter.

  8. probably more than two weeks old.

get him a kitten milk replacement.

you can introduce him to (dry food mixed with water ) more watery than hard although it is two early for him .

with a syringe give him the milk every r hours .

get him a basket with a soft towel for him to curl up in .

dip your finger in the milk and let him l**k it of your finger to get used to you

Call the vet or take him for checking

  9. i would call the local shelter. they will take it in and give it its shots and all. just make sure its not a shelter that will put it to sleep because that's cruel. so ask before you take it there.  somebody from the shelter should be able to tell you how to catch it.... my advice would be to slowly put a towel over it and quickly wrap it so you can pick it up then put it in a box(with holes).

  10. Give him some cat food, water, dry him off if he is a bit wet, try to handle him as much as possible......... Good Luck~ That was a nice thing to do..
