I found a "Walking Liberty" half-dollar from 1941. It's not in great condition. Is it worth more than $.50?

  1. It is a coin that has more historic value than a monetary one. 1941 was the start of World war II. You may have one from the Denver (D) or San Francisco (S) mint. the mint mark if any is on the eagle side up and to the left of the H in Half dollar. No mint mark it was minted in Philadelphia. The S mint one is a little rarer but has only more value in mint state grades. The coin in low grades is worth 7 to 8 times face value to a coin dealer. I would hold onto it for silver is going up and may get quite high in 2008, then you can sell.

  2. it is worth its melt value

it contains 0.358 oz of silver

silver is $18 an ouce right now

    so 0.358x18=$6.44

  3. It seems it is worth more than $.50 from looking I see it's worth between $15-$40.

  4. Yeah I'd say that's definitely on the valuable side. Why not clean it off with some CLR or something?
