Found a sewing machine and wanted to know how can i find out more info about it other than what i know ?

we found a sewing machine that is fitted inside a table which is in great condition. that is how it grabbed my attention its a beautiful solid wooden table. until i picked it up it was heavier than it looked. we looked around and we found a sewing machine with the info i found so far the sewing machine was made in 1904. its a singer and it turns on when you plugged it in. i am able to get a manuel for it off the computer. i might would like to sell if its worth something! if i wanted to sell it who would i talk to? and also how would i know if i am getting ripped off. i did call 1 person and she offered nothing higher than 75$ without looking at it. she said the table itself is at least worth 50$. if she is willing to offer money in that amount then she might know something i dont know. you know what i mean she says she does buy antique sewing machines too and sells them. please give me some input

I too have one of the old swinger machines.  The cabinet had damage to one side but I repaired it.  There is a person locally that advertises to repair these old machines.  I intend to have it repaired.  My wife enjoys sewing, and told me the old machines were built "ford tough" and won't break when sewing tough or thick materials.  I have never checked seriously to see what kind of market is out there for old sewing machines, but I imagine there is one.  People generally like anything that's old, esepcially if it works, is different, and in good shape.  My sewing maching actually has french wording on it from the factory.

I personally wouldn't sell to an antique dealer.  They like to buy low and sell high.  Perhaps ebay might indicate a market.  Or, maybe a couple of phone calls to other people familiar with antiques, like someone who repairs them.

Make sure the machine is in working condition.If it has to have repairs, better to sell it than invest money to fix it.If it works good, get at least 100.00 for it.
