last night i found a very small kitten. it seems that the eyes were just recently opened, but the problem is the green **** oozing form both eyes. one is worse than the other. if i dont wipe the eyes every couple hours, then they goet stuck together. i dont notice anything else wrong besides some fleas and being skinny. i know that green usually mean infection, but is there something i can use to help. i cant get her to the vet for about 10 days. i plan on keeping her and dont want to take her to the shelter if i dont have too.....any suggestions?

  1. triple antibiotic  EYE ointment, you can get at the drug store, apply it 2 times a day, use warm moist cotton balls to clean eye 3 times a day, need to keep green goo off the eyes, and see your vet as soon as you can,

  2. Ask someone who already has a cat what you should do.  Feed her, bathe her, cuddle her.  She is lucky to have found a lovely new home.

  3. I don't know about green coloration, but I remember when my kittens eyes opened there was still a lot of crusting and disgusting eye gunk to manage.

The only thing I would know of would be to just keep doing what you're doing - cleaning the gunk away periodically. As long as there's no swelling or inflammation, and the kitten's eyes are still responsive I don't think there's too large of an emergency (if nothing else it could be a side-effect of the fleas).

If you really are worried you can still call the shelter or take her down just to ask their advice on how to manage it. I'm sure they have plenty of experience with things like that.

  4. Get a friend to take it to the vet for you.....if you were sick you would get yourself to a clinic some how...someway!  Besides you did say that you're going to keep it so if that's the case . . .then your friend would be the hero!!!  GOOD LUCK!!!

  5. Do not put anything in the kitten's eyes without a vet's supervision. Your kitten's eyes are infected and you need to get it to a vet. I recently rescued some kittens with eye infections like you describe. Some had lost eyes because the infection had gotten so bad. The vet will give you antibiotic eye salve and probably oral antibiotics. This is nothing to mess around with. Get to the vet soon. 10 days will be too late. These infections progress quickly and will also spread to other cats if you have them. It cost $30 to treat one of the kittens I rescued and that included worming and ear mite/flea treatment.
