My daughter found a baby field mouse in our den on the floor. No sign of a mama or other babies. It's about an inch long with hair and eyes appear to almost be open. Not sure what to do for food etc. Any ideas?

  1. I would buy a syringe (One without a needle in it) and fill the syringe with nutritious foods like soy milk, infant baby formula, runny oatmeal, and pureed meat, vegetables, and fruit. Another thing you can feed it is Ensure, Boost, or other meal replacement drinks.

Take the syringe and stick it in the baby's mouth, then dribble the food into its mouth slowly. Make sure it is swallowing.

Repeat every few hours. Put it in a box or something like that with a bunch of scraps of warm cloth. (fleece is good) It needs to stay warm, and is used to sleeping with it's mum and siblings, which all have body heat to keep it warm. Now it is sleeping alone, so make sure it is keeping warm enough.

If it survives, it will be friendly to people and you can probably keep it as a pet.

  2. i would go online and look up what to feed it. until you do that i would keep it in a box with a heating blanket. if you cant find anything online crush up some hamster food or rat food and put some warm water in it. put a little milk in it to. try to feed him with a little spoonor something like a bottle. make sure to keep a close eye on him. Good luck!

  3. this happened to me once and i knew the mother was dead because my dog had killed it. i felt REALLY bad so i took the only baby i found and tried to nurse it but it was reaaly hard because it still was pink and had no hair and its eyes were still closed. n-e-ways i fed it by getting a toothpick and dipping it in milk but since urs is bigger i suggest u use a small piece of paper towel or cloth and dip it in milk and if the mouse cant suck on it then squeeze a drop on its lips.

but be VERY CAREFUL. the mouse i had died becase it was so small

    but urs will survive. U R A GOOD PERSON. I HOPE I HELPED!!!!!!!!♥♥♥

  4. Call an exterminator, Jesus!

No offense, I don't think animals should be kill for no reason, but a mouse in your house suggests a hidden infestation which can cause damage and even disease.

At least get the baby mouse into wildlife rehab- they're hard to keep alive one on one without training and equipment- and then put down humane traps.

  5. Take it to a vet since it's a baby still. You can give it milk I believe.

  6. you need to call an exterminator.  That baby mouse came from somewhere, and it wasn't born alone.  You'd better get it under control quickly before your kid starts finding droppings and seeing if they're candy.  I'm not trying to be gross, just realistic.

  7. Give the mouse food and water, you dont want it to die do you?

Once it seems healthy and older let it out to the wild. Where it can adapt to a more normal life. If you get a little attached to it then you can keep it as a pet. Or you can just be a good person and nurse it back to health and let it go into its enviroment.

  8. leave some food and water out for it.
