I went to the hospital and that's when they told me. I haven't gained any weight and aside from the occasional sore b*****s, I hadn't suspected a thing (my periods are irregular). Anyone else in this situation and things turned out okay????

  1. my goodness!! Stop immediately!!! At this point just be honest with your doctors and they may want to do some extra tests. There really isn't going to be a way 100% sure until the baby is born but it is definitely important to stop drinking now. I guess there is a possibility it didn't affect the child but the chance is small. At this point you can just hope the affects are small and minimal. I hate to make you feel any better about this because you have such a high risk that it did affect the child, but I know someone who drank until she was 6 months pregnant and she is about 8 months pregnant now and everything seems to be going okay.

  2. wow wow wow. 18 weeks and didn't know it, huh?

  3. hi i was 17 weeks pregnant when found out i was pregnant with my first child and was still having my periods and did so until i was 25 weeks the only way i found out was because i started to put on weight i was traveling around australia with my long term boyfriend for the first three mths not eating properly and drinking my son was fine when he was born but as soon as i found out i stopped drinking and smoking nd ate proper food and did all the things you are meant to do I'm sure your be fine good luckk x x

  4. Go and see your OB right away.  You could have done significant damage to the baby...

  5. 18 weeks is a long time to not know your pregnant...but anyways, you just need your dr to test for FAS.  Fetal Alcohol Syndrome if they can do that.  Your baby has very high chances of having this since you have been drinking for 4 1/2 months of pregnancy.

  6. Binge drinking is never ever a smart idea, pregnant or not.

You need to alert your OB/GYN, so they could do appropriate screenings. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is very real.

You can't undo the past. All you can do is change NOW, and take the right precautions to have a healthy pregnancy from this day forward.

    Good luck.

  7. Wow, that is far along to not know and most of the major parts have already developed.  I hope for your child's sake everything is normal.  I also hope you change your ways from here on out.

  8. Thats 4 1/2 months??? And you didnt think anything about not having a period for 4 months??? Well I have heard of women drinking a lot when pregnant and not knowing they were but I think only a couple weeks not months. And the first couple months are the most crucial also, thats when alot of the vitals are developing and need the nutrients from you like the prenatal pill and certain foods. Im sure you will be okay but dont drink anymore now, and take those pills asap and try to eat real healthy from now on. The ultrasound will be able to tell you if the heartbeat is okay and the bloodtests you will do will also tell you if anything is wrong, and when you find out what it is in a month they will tell you about what it weighs also and appx how long...and they will know if thats good or not. Good Luck, I hope everything is okay!

  9. not been in your situation but get an anomaly scan asap to rule out any physical abnormalities and read up on foetal alcohol toxicity which will provide you with info on what can happen. good luck

  10. I had a friend that this happened to and the baby turned out fine as far as normal birth weight and no abnormalities, but now that the child has started school, she is behind and has had a hard time grasping concepts compared to her peers so therefore she has been labeled with learning disabilities. I think cigerette smoking and alcohol use is linked to some learning disabilities. I hope you child will be healthy.

  11. Unfortunately there is little you can do about it now but stop from here on in.

Hope everything turns out alright with your baby.

  12. I really hope your baby is ok, poor thing!

  13. I have a friend who was a very heavy drinker and didn't find out she was pregnant until 16 weeks and her baby ended up being fine with no problems.  I don't want to tell you that there is no chance of there being something wrong with you baby, but I wanted to let you know that he may be fine.  Just make sure to be open about this with your doctor because they need to know to look out for signs of problems.  I hope that everything turns out ok, GOOD LUCK!
