Monthly installments were to be electronically withdrawn from bank account on the 17th of each month, thought payment was taken out but instead there was a return fee. Didn't get cancellation date notice because I had contacted agency about address change but found out someone didn't put new address in the system. I have always paid on time, first time this has ever happen. Do you the the agency will forgive me and get my insurance going again???

  1. That's up to the company's way of handling cancelations.  Explain how it was their s***w-up and that you'd like to sign a no-loss and pay what was due to reinstate the policy with no gap in coverage.  If you went through an independent agency, ask them to do it.

    I've had good results here...

    Good Luck.

  2. Car insurance reinstatements are few and far between.  And an agency doesn't have the authority to reinstate a policy.

  3. If you have a good agent and have a good history of paying your bills on time, you will more than likely be able to have your policy reinstated. Your agent will have to speak to the underwriter to get permission.

Generally speaking, once you go 30 days with out insurance is when you run into big trouble. Don't worry too much yet, and call your agent ASAP.

    Good luck!

  4. Call ASAP the agency. There is a grace period that most insurance companies will have. If it was canceled last Friday more than likely you still have the chance to reinstate. You will probably have to make up for that payment but better that than being without insurance and then being fined by the state.
