"Bat Wings"

If you look into his eyes,

You’ll see there’s nothing there…

The whites only…

The whites only,

And they twitch in sync

With his arms,

And he heaves himself

To and fro,

Releasing a scream

As his veins become large

And erupt

Internally.

If you look into his eyes,

You’ll see there’s nothing to be found…

The whites only…

The whites only,

And they roll eerily,

As do his joints,

And his skin peels

Layer by layer,

Falling to the ground,

Creating an odor -

Irremovable.

Unbearable.

If you look into his eyes,

You’ll see that nothing exists…

The whites only…

The whites only,

And he blinks for vision

And receives none,

So he thrusts a knife

To his throat,

Hoping to bleed blindness away,

Regain a prowler’s sight,

And forever remain

Immune.

What ails him?

He laughs…

What humors him?

He screams…

What disgusting protrusions are those?

Bat wings.

  1. although the poem is clearly titled 'bat wings' i am not of the opinion that the subject of it can be restricted to it... i feel it has more than one connotation. the question and answering by the poet gives it a semblance of a mere conversation although if the content, the imagery, the words are anything to go by.. it sure is one h**l of a dark poem and thus gothic.

  2. Yuk  but the poetry is very good! I will never see a bat in a different light !!  Cheers

  3. I find it repulsive and depressing.

Oh wait...it's perfect for a goth, then.

Definitely not MY cup of tea- I LIKE having a happy life.

  4. I Find it Intriguing!

    Powerful and crude,

    I Visualise Fangs,coffins

    and vamp maidens

    reaching out to their Master.

I Love Goth and the darkness it inherits,

Lost souls tortured by the light,

    Spread their wings,

    Take flight, in search of

    fresh blood,the only way they

    know how to love,....survive.

    ,

    Hidden in there darkest hour,

    Power,... to save their right

    For freedom,of the night.

    Once more,

    A fight for Survival,

To keep hold of the Horrors

    that travel with them.

    Empty,Cold,Fearless, Bold.

    Until they meet

    There ultimate goal,

    Stake through the Heart,

    Peace at last!
