Foundation Difficulties?

I use a liquid foundation and apply it with a brush. But half way through the day it has already come off. Is there anyways to ensure foundation stays on all day?

  1. Mineral foundation is best. It stays on WAY better than liquid foundation and is good for your skin, but it's sometimes harder to apply, and can look messy if you don't put it on correctly.

You can order the Bare Minerals starter kit... it comes with a bunch of cool brushes and stuff, but I personally don't care much for that brand as it tends to look a bit cakey and is more visible on your skin than liquid, plus it contains bismuth which clogs your pores and causes breakouts.

KmS Minerals is the absolute best brand I have tried, (and believe me-I've tried them all.)

It goes on completely sheer, but covers everything, and you won't even be able to tell that you're even wearing makeup. I like to spray my brush with water before application, because I find that it goes on smoother when it's wet.

You can order a free sample from their website. I would suggest ordering samples from other companies as well, such as Bare, so that you can compare them and see which one works best for your skin.

It's a bit more of an investment, but totally worth it.

And think of it this way, with mineral foundation, you aren't going to have as many breakouts and clogged pores as you would with liquid makeup, so you're technically saving money on blemish-fighting beauty products.

  2. i am having the same issue. i usually have to reapply it

  3. I use to use liquid foundation in the winter. In the summer, I usually wore powdered foundation. I love MAC Mineralize Skinfinish/Natural in Medium Dark. It's healthy and good for your skin since it's baked.

Anyways, what kind of brush do you use? It depends on the brush and the strokes you make with it to put on the foundation. If you don't brush on the liquid foundation correctly, it can look streaky and gross. Not cool.

I suggest using a skunk brush. It's not really called a skunk brush, it looks like one! It has white tips and the rest of the brush is black. I have the MAC 187 (http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/pr... It's pricey but very worth it. It's made especially for applying on liquid makeup, as well as mineralized makeup. When you apply on the foundation, take the brush and swirl it around your face until it blends in and you get the coverage you want. This way, the product will be evenly distributed all over your face and you won't get patches of overly done spots and whatnot. Haha.

OPPS. Before you put on foundation of any kind, I highly suggest using a face primer. There are many popular ones out on the market such as, SmashBox Photo Finish, Laura Mercier Primer, and MAC Prep and Prime. There are others but these are among the popular ones. There is one that I found online and have tried a sample of. It's called Camellia Rose Skin Soothing Primer. It's made of natural ingredients so it won't break you out or cause allergic reactions. Here's the site, just in case you want to check it out (http://www.camelliarose.shoppingcartsplu... It smells really good and it's healthy for your skin. The next thing I'm going to suggest is going to sound really weird and maybe gross to you but I've heard and seen it work! You can use Monistat Chafing-Relief Gel. The main ingredient in any good primer is "dimethicone." It is also very affordable and you can find it anywhere. The others that I have mentioned are a bit pricey but hey, whatever suits you.

The purpose of a makeup primer is to form a barrier between your skin and the stuff you put on your face such as foundation, blush, bronzer, concealer, etc. It protects your skin as well. The primer will also help keep your foundation/makeup stay on longer.

The last thing you need to do for liquid foundation especially is to set your face with setting powder. I personally love and use a lot MAC Invisible Powder. It's only found in MAC Pro Stores but you can buy it via phone. Any setting powder will do as it 'sets' your makeup so it can stay put. I also finish off with MAC Fix+ as it's refreshing and it's made up good stuff for your skin such as Chamomile and Green Tea I believe...

So first, primer then foundation then setting powder.

If you use all this, you will have your makeup last ALL day.

  4. don't listen to the girls who are telling you not to apply your liquid foundation with a brush, they are inexperienced. that's actually the best way to apply it. sponges waste the product because it absorbs into the sponge and it also makes it go on thicker and has more chance of looking cakey. a brush gives you the most control over your liquid foundation.

to help your foundation stay on longer, ensure that before applying it you do everything you need to. wash, tone and moisturize. wait til your moisturizer's fully absorbed into your skin, if youre in a rush then blot your skin with a tissue). this step is important because the mix of the moisturizer and primer will create these little balls idk how exactly to describe it but its basically coming off your face as your rub it on.

then apply a mattefying primer (Smashbox is my favorite..goes on so smoothly and even helps your skin look better! also has different types i.e. clear, for redness, for bronzing). primers are great because your makeup adheres to it and it stays on your face longer. ever since i've discovered primers my makeup has stayed on much longer and better (for lips, just moisturize your lips apply your foundation/powder over it and apply your lipstick..your foundation can act like a primer. for eyes, your foundation can work too..or try using special eyeshadow primers like urban decay primer potion or something like a paint or paint pot from MAC. anything like that will help your makeup stay on longer)

apply your concealer then foundation. try using a powder after to set it. fix+ also works well to set your makeup.

    hope this works for you.

  5. It is always a good idea to "set" your foundation with a powder.  If you are afraid the shades might be different, try a shear powder.  swirl a blush brush in the powder and apply it evenly over your face.  This will help make your foundation last longer.  If you are still having foundation problems after that, try a different brand and see if that works for you.

    :)

  6. brush on liquid? hmm. i use the powder foundation pad for liquid. it works so much better. i use lotion first. to make my face a little sticky. and i blot it on, and smear it. THEN i use the same pad and dap the powder it is meant for on my face. works miraciously. for Maybelline :]

  7. uh dont apply your

    foundation with a brush

and first put on foundation then

put on some powder foundation after.

it should stay on after that.

  8. If you have oily skin or sweat a lot since the weather may be hot liquid foundation is not the way to go!  You will just end up having a mud slide on your face, instead try switching to powder foundation.  I made the switch and noticed a huge difference. The only complaint Ive heard about powder foundation is that it gives you a "cakey" look but if you moisturize well and use a GOOD primer you will not have that problem what-so-ever!
