Four English players pull out of national side due to ‘injury’
Four http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 in a international friendly. These call backs have come because all four players have managed to pick up knocks and won’t be fit to travel with the English squad.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741, who also pulled out on the opportunity to be a part of
the English team. The fourth player to pull out of the English side is Aston Villa’s speedy forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Agbonlahor-c14288, who has not joined the team for personal reasons.
Prior to Gerrard’s withdrawal, he was being hailed as the player who would replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 as the captain of the Three Lions. However it seems that the player will not be available for the game, despite having completed a successful ninety minutes
against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, this past Sunday.
Gerrard was pulled out of the English side by his manager Kenny Dalglish, who is reported to have said: "He has a groin problem. He has to go so they (England) can have a look at him but we've spoken to England and he'll not be playing."
It is kind of surprising to see that the player picked up a groin injury but still managed to play ninety minutes of a game played at a very competitive atmosphere. However this same feeling applies to Crouch and Foster as well. According to a number of
footballing experts, these ‘injuries’ that the player’s picked up could be nothing more than an excuse to not travel with the national side or they could be excuses that were implied by their club teams managers, so that the player’s wouldn’t get injured while
away on international duty.
In this case, the only person who seems to have given an honest reason for not wanting to travel is Agbonlahor. The player simply stated that he can’t travel due to personal terms, which is not only a respectable reason but it also tells us that he was not
resorting to cheap tactics to pull out of international duty
The international friendly promises to be entertaining to watch because the absence of top players evens the playing field for Denmark and offers other players a chance to shine. Also http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello is fielding the national side and it’s going to be interesting
to see what changes the manager is going to bring and what formations he is going to be using.
Despite the friendly being a good idea to assess younger players in the squad, it’s going to be a nerve racking experience for club managers whose players will take to the field. Most clubs will be praying that their key players don’t pick up any injuries
while on international duty.
