  1. Day One -  go to the Excalibur show with jousting/dinner show.  Walk around the Excalibur hotel and play the video games.

Day Two - Hoover Dam in the morning.  Take a guided tour.  Since you are close to Arizona, drive over the state line for fun.  Go back to hotel and enjoy the swimming pool in the afternoon.  Dinner at a nice buffet such as the Bellagio or Paris or Rio.  See the fountains of Bellagio, enjoy the indoor atrium.  See the Sirens of TI show outside of Treasure Island.

Day Three - Childrens Museum of Las Vegas in the morning.  Afternoon comedy show.  You may be able to get half price tickets at tickets2nite (one of a couple places close to the M & M world store on Las Vegas Blvd.  Go for a workout at the fitness room.

See the Fremont Street Experience at downtown Las Vegas.

Try Todai for dinner, a seafood buffet near Planet Hollywood.

Day Four - See the lion habitat at the MGM.  Enjoy the carnival games at Circus Circus.

  2. you would enjoy reno/tahoe much more as once you have seen hoover dam and the canyon your done...

in reno you have many more choices/

  3. When you go to Las Vegas these usual things you will want to see for FREE:

    1. Number one on my list is to watch the fountains displays in front of the Bellagio hotel. It usually runs every 15 minutes in summers starting at 3:00 PM; runs continuously until about midnight. Each show is different (there are more than 20 different tunes choreographed) so stay and watch at least 2 or 3. ALSO, go inside the Bellagio hotel to its lobby and view the beautiful glass sculptured ceiling AND the seasonal floral arrangements in the Atrium. ( http://www.bellagio.com/amenities/founta... )

    2. The “Sirens of TI” show (spectacular) in from of the Treasure Island Hotel; it runs every 90 minutes starting at about 4:30 PM. Simply stand on the sidewalk in front of the TI Hotel. http://www.treasureisland.com/pages/ent_...

    3. The volcano erupt in from of the Mirage Hotel; starting at dark until midnight. Again, just stand on the sidewalk in front of the hotel.

    4. Go down to Fremont Street and see the light shows. There are usually 3 or 4 different shows, starting after dark (about 8:30PM) and lasting about 5 or 10 minutes each.

    5. Go to the RIO hotel to see the Masquerade in the Sky show. It is like Mardi Gras parade, only suspended from the ceiling over the gambling floor. It runs every 60 minutes starting about 3:00 PM; the last show starts at 9:30 PM..

    6. Go in Caesars Palace and walk through the Forum shops to the first fountain (its spectacular) then take the first fork to the left to go see the aquarium. Then continue on through the shops to the second fountain and wait for the show to start.

If you are a Star Trek Fan, go to the Hilton (off the strip) for "Star Trek The Experience"; it cost about $35.  http://www.startrekexp.com/

f you want to see a production show, I recommend the show at Bally's, "Jubilee" and the show at the MGM, "KA". I have seen the show at Bellagio, “O” also but I think KA is a better show. I have also seen the Folies Bergiere at the Tropicana but I think Jubilee is better. These will cost about $100 each; that's the going rate for production shows in Vegas now. I also suggest that you buy tickets online before you go, particularly if you want to see a Circ d Sol show.

People go to Vegas to sightsee as well as gamble. You can see most of the stuff on the Strip by walking, so you don't need a rental car.  But just be aware that although all parking at hotels is free (including valet parking) if you park yourself you will also have a long walk to get to the casinos and Strip. That's because the hotel lots and garages are all well behind the hotels. If you do get a car I recommend that you use the hotel's valet parking; just tip the driver when they bring your car when you leave. There is a free monorail between Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. The one on the opposite side of the street which runs from the MGM to the Hilton you have to pay to ride. There is a free bus between Harrahs Hotel to the RIO Hotel that runs every half hour. There is also a free bus that you can get outside the Bills Gambling Hall Hotel (formerly Barbary Coast Casino) that will take you to the Orleans and some other off strip casinos.

Plan which hotels/casinos you want to visit each day so you can make the most of your walking and the free monorails and scuttles. When you get to Vegas you will probably have in your hotel room a free guide to the city called either "What's ON" , “Showbiz”or "Las Vegas Today". These are helpful guises as they have a map of the Strip and city with the hotels marked, current hotel shows and prices, plus useful coupons.

The hotel coffee shops and buffets are now much more expensive than they were years ago. So, if you want to eat for less go to the food courts located in many hotels and also try one of the several Denny's restaurants on the Strip (one in the Casino Royal hotel/casino). There are also a number of McDonald, Burger King, and other fast food places on the Strip. You can get breakfast and dinner buffets a few dollars less at the Imperial Palace hotel/casino and at the Gold Coast hotel/casino. Buffets also cost less at the Circus Circus hotel/casino and in Fremont St hotel/casinos. There is an Outback Steak House in the Casino Royale Hotel There is a Cheesecake Factory and a Planet Hollywood in Caesars Forum shops. There is a Margeritaville in the Flamingo hotel. I recommend Tony Roma’s, a ribs and chicken restaurant; one on Fremont St and another on Sahara Ave near Paradise Rd.

There are movie theaters in the Palms (multiplex) which is just off the Strip on Flamingo Road (across from the Rio Hotel) and also another on the Strip across the street from the Monte Carlo hotel, near the MGM hotel.

The big hotels like Caesars Palace, Bellagio, and Planet Hollywood have high end shopping. Here's a listing of all of the shopping places other than the hotel shops.

There is Fashion Show Mall, which is like the malls in any city with small stores and large department stores including Macy's and Neiman Marcus. It opens about 10:00AM and closes about 9:00 PM.

There is an outlet mall on the Strip just south of the airport called Las Vegas Outlet Center, 7400 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las. You can easily drive, take a bus or taxi there. It's open every day but does close to 10:00 PM;.

Then there is a mall that people who live in Vegas use on Maryland Parkway, about a mile east of the Strip. Its called the Boulevard Mall and its address is 3528 S Maryland Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV. It has regular mall hours from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Then there is another outlet mall near downtown Las Vegas called Las Vegas Premium Outlets, 875 South Grand Central Parkway. Its also open 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Then there is an outlet mall in Primm, Nv which is about 45 minutes drive south of Las Vegas right on I-15; at the Ca/Nv border. It has all types of outlet stores and there are hotels, casinos and restaurants there also. Its worth the drive.

The best way to see the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas is to drive there. The best viewing of the Grand Canyon is the South Rim and the drive there is a good 5 hours each way. You simply go East on Flamingo Rd or any of the major East/West arteries until you get to Boulder Highway (RT-93). Take that South, it goes right to/across Hoover Dam, and continue to I-40. Then take I-40 to Williams, Az and RT-64 to the Grand Canyon.

Don't try to tour Hoover Dam on the way to or from the Grand Canyon; you will need all of your time for the Canyon. Make Hoover a separate trip, its only 30 minutes from the Strip.

The drive to the Grand Canyon is on mostly two-land roads with some truck and campers, but you can generally make about 65 mph average. When I have done the trip from Vegas I stayed overnight at the Canyon and returned the next day. BUT, if you leave Vegas very early morning, like 6:00AM, you can get to the GC and have until about 6:00 PM (6 hours) and still get back to Vegas by midnight. Some GC lodging sites below.

I recommend driving there and spending the night and return the next day. There are plenty of places to stay in or near the Canyon but your should make room reservations.

Now there is another place to see a piece of the Grand Canyon called the West Rim. You will see a lot more at the Grand Canyon National Park than at the West Rim. The West Rim is really just a Native American Reservation tourist trap with lots of high fees, like $20 to park and $29. to walk on their view bridge. You can see the same type sights at the South rim for free. Check the link below.

  5. Definitely the Stratosphere Tower it has a couple of rides at the top you guys can try if your daredevils! The Showcase Mall has the M&M store which is great and also a family friendly arcade called Gameworks. Also try Circus Circus hotel they have an indoor amusement park!Have a great time!

  8. Vegas doesn't cater to families anymore.  There are a few things to do, but I believe that your daughter will become bored.  They are things you probably have at home.

    Gameworks

    movie theatre

    Dolphin Habitat-Mirage

    Shark Reef-Mandalay Bay

Roller Coasters-New York, New York, Sahara

    Adventuredome-Circus Circus

    hotel pools

malls- Fashion Show, Desert Passage, and Caesars'

The Grand Canyon tour can be fun.  Just watch the safety record of the tour company.  There was a high profile accident a couple of years back.  The Hoover Dam is interesting, but a good 40 minute drive from Vegas.

My advice, leave your daughter at home and choose a location that is truely family friendly.

  9. Lots of fun things to do in Vegas. Here are a list of attractions.

  10. I would Google the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau or Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce,  they should be able to send you a packet with the info you are seeking.

I would go to at least one of the Cirque to Soleil type shows.  That new ventriloquist, can't think of his name has his own show (he won last year's America's Got Talent) should be great.  He is amazing!
