Four major winners of 2011 and Tiger Woods make the field of Honda Classic more competitive
Keegan Bradley is heading to Florida to play the sensational event of the Honda Classic, with the participation of three other major winners of 2011.
The Honda Classic is to be played at the PGA National Champion Course, Palm Beach Gardens. The field is set and there are a large numbers of players arriving in Florida.
The most glaring factor of this tournament is the appearance of four players who won the major tournaments in 2011. The players are: Charl Schwartzel, Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke and Bradley.
"It's a terrific way to round out the major winners," Honda Classic Executive Director Ken Kennerly said.
He added, "It's the first time in tournament history we've had the four reigning major champions playing in our tournament the next year".
Schwartzel is the winner of Masters Tournament, Clarke won The Open Championship, McIlroy secured the title of US Open and Keegan recorded his victory at the PGA Championship in playoff last year.
"We were proud of Keegan last year for everything he accomplished," Kennerly said. "He clearly has established himself as one of golf's young stars".
Bradley’s performance in the last season was impressive. He had won the title of HP Byron Nelson Championship and played well in the current season’s Northern Trust Open as well.
"I don't want to be one of the guys that kind of disappear," Bradley said. "I would love to be up in a category with the best players. I hope I don't disappear. I don't plan to".
The tournament is keeping Floridians all pumped up. All the spectators are waiting for the first tee-off on Thursday, March 1.
The tournament has gained attraction mainly because of the participation of the four major winners of 2011 and Tiger Woods.
Woods, who is in the field of Honda Classic after 19 years, has vowed to atone for his lapses in past events.
Woods has won 14 major tournaments and his presence will pose a serious challenge to other players in the field. He is also a Floridian and has hundreds of fans.
A tough battle is expected among the major winners and spectators will definitely enjoy seeing the biggest names in golf at one place.
