Question:

Four month old crawling is her mom a liar or just a bragger?

My SIL has a four month old and I have a 9 month old. My SIL claims that her daughter is already rolling to get to toys, scooting and that she is now crawling on her hands and knees. My 9 month old rolls and army crawls but doesn't have any interest in crawling on his hands and knees. So do you think she is a liar since no one but her has seen her little wonder child do this, or do you think she is telling the truth. Have you ever heard of a crawling four month old?

  1. It's rare but possible. All mums inwardly bubble with pride over their little one's achievements, and some do exagerate them (to the point where they convince themselves), and unfortunately for the rest of the world some mums are the type of people who can't help but let this pride spill out and let the rest of the world know about it. I know plenty like it, some exaggerate, some don't, and yeah it's very irritating but it just shows that she's a healthy, proud mum, if a little annoying. I'm sure you'd be more unhappy about her behaviour if she didn't care for her baby as some parents sadly don't. Just humour her and try not to compare - many babies never crawl on their hands and knees - my sister never did but she was a very early walker. Unless there are serious problems, these early stages mean nothing - by the time they're grown up and at school they'll all be happy, healthy kids at an equal level, all with their own individual flares in life. Don't let stuff like this wind you up.

  2. That is pretty darn advanced.  I would find it hard to believe.

  3. I say she's a liar! most kids just start to sit up at  4 months old! My son was crawling army style around 8 months or so.

Its funny cause something like this justhappenedd to me, I was telling my Aunt that my son (who is now 18 months) was walking at 10 months and she went on to tell me that her daughter walked at 5 months old!! and was sleeping in a toddler bed by 6 months because she could climb out of her crib.

I had all I could do not to laugh at her!! 5 months and walking I thinkthat'ssphysicallyy impossible!!!

I dont know why mothers feel the need to out doeach otherr! haha I just thinks its funny

  4. Jealous? Seriously dont compare your baby to hers. Everychild is different. My toddler walked before he crawled, all by 10 months, lol. It is possible. My youngest has cralwed a little at 4 months but was too hard to do more than a couple steps, he prefers to roll all over and scoot and army crawl at 5 months, but he tries everyday to get on all fours and rock back and forth. So every baby is different. You SIL may be inbellishing a little but is telling the truth, he may have crawled a little and rolled a little. Indulge her, laugh about it and move on, Yours will be running around before you know it and you wont have time to even get online, lol. Take care~

  5. a 4 month old does not crawl. she scoots forward. its not the same. SIL dosent know the difference and probly like most new moms wants everyone to think her child is the most special and most advanced.

  6. While the baby could be doing all of that, I wouldn't worry about her being too advanced, since she obviously doesn't do it enough for anyone else to see.

  7. It does seem pretty early but I don't understand why someone would want to lie about it. I think you should invite yourself round to her place and check it out for yourself.

  8. my son was crawling at 5 months but didnt walk until a week before his first b-day. I worked at a grocery store and have seen many times a 9, 10 month olds walking. It happens, if you still dont believe her I suggest you invite yourself over so you can see.

  9. yes its possible, my 2 oldest started crawling at 5mo... i would hope that shes not just trying to throw it in ur face, that's not right. its also really immature... your son will crawl really soon i'm sure.. they grow too fast, i would just ignore her, don't let it get to you.. when she realizes that it doesn't even phase you what she says hers does that yours doesn't, she'll stop cause shes only making a fool of her self... GOOD LUCK!!  :)

  10. yes i was told that i was crawling when i was 4 month its all depands on the baby strength or ability to do thing you might want to try this that will help your baby crawl bring something he likes like a toy that has light or moves and place it a bit far a way from him or a food that he might be intrested in and he will try to crawl to it . my sister done that it and it worked.

  11. Hey, yeh its possible.  Some babies develop fast than others.  My son was about the same age doing this too but my daughter was 6-7 months before she crawled.  My boy was standing before he was 7 months and fully walking around by the time he was 9 months.

But remember it shouldn't be a compitition, babies will do anything when they are good and ready, so if ur sil is coming across as though its a race remember its not cracked up to how they pretend it is. Just think her baby will be getting into everything at a faster pace than yours and believe me thats not always a good thing lol.  BTW she may not be intentionally doing that?

  12. She's probably adding more to a small amouth of truth. Mom's like to over elavorate things our kids do sometimes. Mine he's 3 months old and he tries to scoot off his buncer and tries to sit up while laying down. I wouldn't believe a four month crawling only if I saw it with my own eyes.

  13. My daughter is extremely advanced as well and people don't believe me when I tell them the things she has done.  At 5 months and 4 days she crawled from the living room to the bathroom where I was located.  Today  at 5 months and 15 days she was standing for well over five seconds by herself which I am sure nobody would believe.  She is constantly pulling herself up to standing position and then letting go with one hand.  If I am holding her up standing she pushes my one hand off so she can stand with only one hand supporting.  At 2.5 months, closer to three my husband's cousin was holding her hands and she pulled herself up to standing position.  I took a video of it because it was so ridiculously unbelievable.  Some babies are just advanced.

  14. My friends son is 5 months old and my son is 7 months old, her son sits, crawls, can stand and hold on to objects! My son on the other hand can sit and scoot thats about it. All babies advance at different ages.

Though her baby may be more advanced now her baby may not be in two months.
