Four more secure Tour Cards and license to PDC
After securing victory in his final qualifying encounter, Welshman Jamie Lewis has finally been able to grab his Tour Card and a subsequent license to play for the Professional Darts Corporation Circuit.
With this victory, he will also be able to get off the mark with his professional career in darts.
The ultimate and final quest for the Tour Card took place at the Barnsley Metrodome, where four more players were able to get a hold of the Tour Card.
Apart from Jamie Lewis, the other winners were: Bernd Roith, Johnny Haines and Dave Smith.
It is worth mentioning that the 20-year-old darts player has been able to reserve his position in mainstream darts after defeating Andy Jenkins 6-3, at the PDC Unicorn Darts Youth Tour.
The victory in recent times has been integral in providing him with the breakthrough he was looking for to gain access into the professional circle of darts.
While talking about his competition to PDC.tv, he expressed his feelings about his qualification by saying: "It's probably the hardest tournament I've ever played in, the standard has been amazing and I've had to play really well to get over the finishing
line today".
He also said that this is an extremely valuable opportunity for him to fulfil his dream to reach on the top in this game.
For this, joining the PDC was essential, as it plays a pivotal role in providing him with the necessary breakthrough.
Along with this, Dave Smith has also acquired the opportunity to gain entry into the PDC wing after a decade of professional darts play.
He was able to cruise into the faction after defeating Gareth Cousins. "It feels fantastic because I was under pressure," he said.
Haines, on the other hand, was able to give himself the surge to win 6-5 against Andy Relf to strengthen his position in the PDC.
In addition to this, German darts player Roith was also able to book his place in the PDC after winning his encounter against Les Wallace.
With the increasing entrance of new darts players in PDC, competition between players is definitely going to get intense and cutthroat.
