Four most annoying golf partners
In the recent times, golf has evolved into a social activity and the golf club has become something more than just a sports club. Many casual golfers treat the game and the club as a social gathering place.
For many people, golf is an activity that is used as an icebreaker, an informal place to discuss business or work and is a great way to pass one’s free time.
It is not unusual to see a group of people playing the course in a friendly game. However, if this group is observed more closely, it will be found that there are some members of the group with peculiar personality traits that make them very annoying to
other members of the group.
These are considered to be a necessary evil of the golf course.
The most annoying of the group is the ‘Cell Phone Guy’. This person is on the phone during the whole game, talking to his broker, his coworkers and friends.
Many do have a Bluetooth device clamped to their ears but the purer version of this guy uses the old cell phone-wedged between-shoulder-and ear routine.
To make the matters worse, they are often loud and broadcast their opinion to the entire group. They seem to think that the golf course is an extension of their office or business and that being in the open air does not make the work go away.
The second annoyance on the golf course is the violent member of the group. Commonly referred to as ‘The Volcano’, this player is the angriest member of the group.
At the first glance, The Volcano appears to be a normal person having a good time with friends. Once the group reaches the third hole and the players start to miss the putts, ‘The Volcano’ erupts.
This is not a pretty sight. Foul language, clubs and other equipment fly in all directions and the group has to abandon the game in order to let the tantrum die down.
This person is often the last person to be included in the group and that day, the game is really a mess instead of a pleasurable outdoor activity.
The third most annoying golf partner is simple known as ‘The Frat Boy’ for a very good reason. This person is a child inside an adult’s body and it is usually the golf course that this inner child comes out.
The Frat Boy annoys everyone with his silly antics that do not look ‘cute’ to other players of the group.
Usually the Frat Boy roams around with a beer in his hand and will interfere in the game of other golfers with his annoying comments. When it time for his swing, he is at his most annoying and holds up the game while he has a beer to loosen up the swing.
Last but not in any way least is the ‘Fake Pro’. His name is very appropriate and he is often the most annoying person of the group.
He has money and it shows in his expensive branded clothes and the huge golf bag. Most of the time, this person focuses on the cost of his equipment rather than having a good time.
On every hole, the Fake Pro steers the conversation toward his latest club or his brand of golf balls. Once he is finished discussing their price, he comes to his next favourite topic, his encounters with big name golfers.
It seems that the Fake Pro has played with all the top golfers and is on first-name terms with them.
Most of the times, just one or two of these personalities are there in a group. Even one of them is enough to ruin a good day of golf. The best way of avoiding them is to exclude them altogether from the golf group.
