Four players qualify for Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012
The Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 is going to be played from October 11-14 at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, with four new faces in the roster.
The foursome includes Malaysians Aretha Pan Herng and Sarfina Vinota and Chinese Ssu-Chia Cheng and Min Lee.
The four players displayed a good performance in the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia Local Qualifying Tournament, earning a place in the upcoming battle at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
Observers said that the tournament is not only featuring key LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) contenders, but also several locals and amateurs.
The qualifying match for the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia was the scene of never-racking battle as players put their best forward to put their on top of the leaderboard.
Aretha, who looked extremely happy while speaking to the media, said she could not believe when she bounced back after getting off to a slow start. She said that she had lost hope at the start,
but her bagman supported her, telling her to stay focused till the final moment.
"I started off badly but my caddy told me that I had another 17 holes to play and from there it just came together. I need to get some better fitness ahead of the four day event but other
than that I won’t be changing anything and will just take it one shot at a time."
On the other hand, Sarfina Vinota also could not get off to a solid start, as she saw her rivals edge past her in the opening round.
Sharing her thoughts at the end of the tournament, Vinota said that she was more than thrilled after she saw her name among the lucky candidates picked for the upcoming Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia
2012.
The Malaysian star said that her game improved after the first round and she started making solid putts on every hole.
“I'm so happy. Everything just fell into place today and I made all my putts. I'm excited and nervous at the thought of playing with the world best players but really looking forward to it,”
Vinota said.
Chinese Ssu-Chia Cheng also expressed her joy over her selection, as she said: “I was very excited when I found out I qualified for the tournament”.
