2. divide into as small parts as necessary

3. solve the simplest problem first

4. make a complete list as possible

how does it beneficiall to us today? do we really follow them? please help.. any idea...?

This relates to how we use knowledge and how concrete is it is. How we can justify our knowledge is important for it decides how much faith we have in what we know.

As to your quetion is it benficial today, it says that we should not just readily accept what is given to us but looked at critically. Therefore you need to go back on those steps and confirm the certainity of thre piece of information.
