Four ways Boston Celtics can build a line-up around Rajon Rondo – NBA Feature (Part 1)
Boston Celtics was the third best team in the Eastern Conference in the last season with a luminous 56-26 record. This enabled the team to register a berth in the 2011 playoffs as third seeds. Once there, the C’s routed Carmelo
Anthony and the New York Knicks 4-0 in the Quarter-Finals round to march into the Semi-Finals against the mighty Miami Heat.
The C’s had close contests with the Heat, but Miami proved dominant in the end, as they took away the best of the seven game series with a 4-1 record. Still the C’s had a decent run in preceding season under the guidance of the
“Big Three”, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. However, now these three are getting old, with Allen and Garnett are in their mid 30’s, while Pierce is 33 years old already.
Therefore, sooner or later the Celtics need to replace them with fresh recruitments in order to build the side around the young star in the team. This young star is point guard Rajon Rondo, who will receive the torch from his seniors,
to guide his team in the future.
The 25 year old, is a great combination of skill and experience, as he had blossomed under the shadow of the “Big Three” and now seems ready to take over from them. He had proved himself, being one of the leaders in the side and
at the same time he is also insistently working to further enhance his play. It was because of this dedication that Rondo was able to dictate his terms on the court, night by night basis.
With a developing Rondo, the C’s now look like a solid team that is not easy to beat. So, whenever the free agents market takes place after the players and owners dug out a deal, the Celtics should start looking for promising free
agents in order to build a strong roster around Rondo, to avoid a big crack after the departure of “Big Three”.
In my view these are four best ways the Celtics needed to build their line-up around Rondo, so they could make a run for title in the future.
