Four ways Boston Celtics can build a line-up around Rajon Rondo – NBA Feature (Part 2)
1. Get a solid centre from the free agents market
With aging Jermaine O’Neal spent more than half of the season on the sidelines due injury issues. While, his back up Nenad Krstic scored with an average of 8.1 points per game in the last regular-season in 71 games and even worse
in the playoffs, 1.7 points each night.
This rings alarming bells for the C’s that it’s time to find a solid player for their centre position, who could blast their opponents away when join forces with Rondo. The very name that pops up immediately in this regard is of
Orlando Magic’s thrilling All-Star centre Dwight Howard, whose name had already created a lot buzz on the trading block.
If we take a bird’s eye view it seems that the lockout will affect the initial part of the NBA’s next season. So if a deal is reached on the new Collective Bargaining Agreement in 2012, then, Howard would definitely be the player
that the C’s would be keeping an eye on, in the free agents market.
With Howard in the side for the next season and “Big Three” likely to play for one or two more seasons, there would be a strong possibility that the Celtics may make it to the 2012 NBA Finals and even win it.
Besides this, the C’s could also deal away one of their big man, as they do have an option to exercise in the 2011 free agency. This would allow them to get their hands on players like Nene Hilario and Thaddeus Young or they could
go for a young player for their centre position.
2. Get a shooter like Ray Allen
When it comes to jump shots, there is no one better than Ray Allen in the Boston Celtics roster. He had knocked down several opponents with his blazing jump shots and because of this very reason, Allen is considered as a dangerous
player.
This doesn’t mean that Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce aren’t good shooters. They both are good in their own way, as Garnett rocks when he shots the ball from the charity strip, while Pierce is termed as one of the top players,
who are best at taking the ball to the rim with ease.
These abilities had made the two, serious threat in the Celtics offense, but it would be extremely beneficial for Boston in the future, if they’ll be able pull a player like Allen from the free agency. So when the veterans will
vacant the place the C’s wouldn’t have to face much trouble in absence of Big Three.
Moreover, an addition like Allen coming from the bench for the C’s would also help ease the burden off Rondo’s shoulder, when it comes to jump shots. Such a player would definitely increase the scoring options for the C’s.
