Four ways Boston Celtics can build a line-up around Rajon Rondo – NBA Feature (Part 3)
3. Increase Jeff Greens playing minutes
The Celtics brought in small forward Jeff Green in the previous season after a contentious deal that sent centre Kendrick Perkins to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The C’s had received a lot of criticism over this move, as Perkin’s
departure had shaken their strong interior which was earlier held by the experience centre.
However, this deal is now a part of the past and the C’s have moved forward too. The new hire, Green had also shown some of his sparks in the last season with his new team. Played in 26 regular-season games and scored with an average
of 9.8 points and clutched 3.3 boards per game during his 23.5 minutes log.
This effort by Green proves him an important player for the C’s in future, as the team could enhance his play by working on him. This would give the C’s a player, who has the potential to fill in the gap that will be created once
the Big Three are gone.
The best way of getting the best out of Green, is by giving him more playing minutes, as he had already proved in the past that if gets more time he can do better. Because when Green was with OKC, his average playing minutes were
37 per game and the scoring average was 15.2 points and 5.6 boards a game.
4. Evolve Rajon Rondo’s offensive arsenal

Besides acquiring young talent from the free agents market the Celtics needs to develop their point guard Rondo’s offensive play. As this is the most vital thing in comparison to the above mentioned points, if the C’s wants to
develop a team around their star point guard.
Rondo needs a tweak to enhance his offensive skills. The problem area for Rondo is his jump shot that is decent, but it still requires some work. As he is not a bad field goal shooter, but feels shy when it comes to attempt jump
shots.
Rondo’s opponents are aware of his weakness and therefore, give him space to attempt a jump shot, but never allows him to drive to the rim. This makes Rondo less effective for the C’s. So in order to reduce the urgency of finding
the appropriate players for their roster, Boston should work on Rondo’s offense, as it help the franchise to sign much less talent.
So when the C’s would get few right players around a well developed Rondo, they will be in a much better shape to make a run for the title.
