mattracks of lousianna makes tracks for four wheelers&trucks.has anyone tried to put skie skids in the front and tracks in the rear?or tracks allway round for snow?how does it perform.who knows mattracks might make skids for this.P.S. I called my ex-brother-inlaw and told him this,"I wonder if that vw frame-rail would know the difference between sand, and snow"?It's already got paddle tires.Interesting idea huh?

  1. I have never tried this. I can see that the concept could mimick that of a snowmobile. However, the use of tires might give you less traction. If you can safely test it, it would be a worthwile venture.

  2. Yes it'll work. I did something like that to my wheeler. I bought a set of mat tracks for the back of my wheeler and got skis of an old snowmobile and built brackets so they would bolt on the hub instead of a tire. Works pretty good in snow. Those tracksdo take a lil bit up hp to turn but i still can get my polaris 250 trail blazer to go around 40-50mph. This set up is really fun to have in the winter.
