This summer has been very tough on me because my girlfriend's four-year-old son, Ethan has been spending much more time at home. I love her very much and do not want to give up our relationship because of her son. We have talked about this, and she agrees with me on the problems I have with her son and wants me to help.

I have never been in this position before, and I need some help on how to deal with Ethan's problems.

The boy is unbearable sometimes. Whenever he wants something, he will whine and cry until his mother screams at him and/or he gets what he wants.

He will only do what he wants to do, and 99 times out of a hundred it's exactly what you've told him not to do.

He doesn't like to eat food. Unless made to do otherwise, he would rather drink " chukka muck" (choc milk.) He drinks it before he goes to bed, and WILL NOT sleep without it. He wakes up during the middle of the night, crying for mommy and makes her go get him more, or he will cry untill the sun comes up.

  1. She may be a good girlfriend, but she's not about the win any mother of the year awards.

This woman NEEDS to learn how to discipline her child. If he is like this at 4, how do you think he's going to be at 14?

I know you love her, but this is about to get really ridiculous, really fast. She needs to handle it now before you both are being controlled by this kid.

Either she needs to start reading some parenting books or you need to buy her a few seasons of Nanny 911. Either way, if you don't nip this in the bud, you're screwed.
