Fractions?!?

Question

Could someone tell me how to divide, and multiply fractions? My Teacher is giving us a test and he hasn't taught us anything on it yet!! Thanks!!

Example: 3 5/8 divided by 1 9/11

How would I solve that? Could you explain the steps? Thanks!!

make them an improper fraction:

29/8 9 to get that multiply 3x8 and add 5

divided by

20/11 to get that multiply 1x11 and add 9

then multiply 29/8 by the reciprocal of 20/11 (the reciprocal is when you flip the top and bottom number

29/8 x 11/20 multiply the top numbers and you get 319

multiply the bottom numbers and get 160

simplify: turn into a mixed fraction --> 1  159/160
