Fractured finger rules Trott out for three to four weeks – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IJL-Trott-c1576 will miss the end of the county season as he has been ruled out of action for three to four weeks with a broken finger. However, he is expected to be fit in time for the England’s winter tour of India, starting
late October this year.
Trott, 31, had injured his right hand during England’s six-wicket win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DW-Steyn-c1409. The Cape Province-born right-hander went on to
bat despite showing obvious signs of discomfort, sharing a match-winning century stand with Ian Bell.
Initial x-rays on Monday suggested “no serious damage”, but a subsequent MRI scan revealed that the right-hander has fractured a bone near the knuckle between his middle finger and the back of the injured hand.
An ECB statement confirmed yesterday that Trott, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749’s Test and ODI number three batsman, will miss the remainder of the season due to broken finger.
“Jonathan Trott has been ruled out of the remainder of the domestic season with an undisplaced fracture of the third metacarpal in his right hand. Although initial x-rays were clear, a subsequent MRI scan revealed a fracture at the base of his third metacarpal,”
the ECB said in a statement on Wednesday.
"No intervention is required, and the 31-year-old should be able to resume batting in three to four weeks and is expected to available for the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 next month," the statement read further.
On Wednesday, he was ruled out of the fifth and final ODI against South Africa, at Trent Bridge, which the hosts lost by seven wickets. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RS-Bopara-c2373 moved up to
No. 3. Bairstow scored 29 runs while Bopara fell for a second ball duck, off Dale Steyn.
Before missing Wednesday's fifth one-day international against the Proteas, Trott was England's second-highest run getter in the series behind http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IR-Bell-c1597, with 142 runs at an average of 47.33.
England are expected to pick their Test squad for India tour next week, before the start of the World T20 championship in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. Trott is not part of England’s World T20 squad, so his injury would not have a bearing on the defence
of their http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Twenty20 crown.
His injury, however would be a huge blow for his county, Warwickshire, who are scheduled to play Clydesdale Bank 40 final against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789, at Lord’s, on September 15.
