Prolific Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing five-ODI series against India after fracturing a finger on his right hand during the five-wicket loss in the third One Day International, at RPS Colombo, on Saturday,
July 28.
The hand injury has sidelined the veteran for four to six weeks. This was confirmed by the Sri Lankan Cricket team manager Charith Senanayake.

The wicketkeeper batsman sustained the injury in the 15th over of Sri Lanka’s innings, when he was struck on the fingers by a quick http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashok-Dinda-c1098 bouncer. 24 not out at the time, the veteran immediately shook his hand and called for the physio.
After receiving the first aid, the left-hander resumed batting and went on to score 73 runs, in total of 286 for 5.
However, he did not take the field during India’s successful run chase. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LD-Chandimal-c1831 donned the gloves in Sangakkara’s absence.
Scans on the injured hand later revealed a fractured little finger. The former Sri Lankan skipper will need four to six weeks to recover from the latest blow. Sanga’s absence could be a huge blow for the Islanders in the remainder of the series, which they
trail 1-2.
Sangakkara’s injury is not Sri Lanka’s first loss of personnel in the ongoing series. Earlier pace bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KMDN-Kulasekara-c1802 was ruled out of the series due to a groin injury, he had sustained during the series opener at Hambantota.
The hand injury has also put doubts on Sangakkara’s participation in the inaugural edition of the Sri Lankan Premier League, which gets underway on August 11.
