Sunderland striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fraizer-Campbell-c13904 has revealed he believes he is ready to make his return for the Black Cats after a lengthy 18 month lay-off.
The 24-year-old has been sidelined since August 2010, recovering from two separate knee ligament injuries. However, he has been on the road to recovery and has been featuring for the reserves. Campbell last appeared for the Black Cats against Bolton Wanderers
in the 1-0 victory and feels he is ready for a return for the senior team.
It is believed Campbell could feature for Sunderland against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fourth round clash over the weekend. The player was confident he was prepared for first team football and revealed he was looking forward to making his return for the
Black Cats.
Campbell said in an interview:
“It's all I've been able to think about for the last 18 months and I'm getting closer all the time now.
If I was called up to play or be on the bench this weekend, I am ready.
It's up to the manager to decide but if he wants to include me on the bench I will be delighted.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international striker has been itching to return to full fitness so he could once again participate for his team in a competitive game. While playing for the reserves has helped, Campbell is certain playing with the first team
will definitely help him more.
He revealed:
“There would be no-one happier than me to come back, get involved and be back amongst the goals again.”
He revealed he was extremely happy to be back and was now looking forward to giving his best for the team in the upcoming fixtures. Campbell said he had not suffered an problems in his recovery, which he felt was a good sign on his way back to full fitness.
Campbell continued:
“It's hard to describe how frustrating it has been, but I just have to try to forget about it now and concentrate on getting back," he added.
Thankfully, I've not had any setbacks or problems after that second one.”
