Frame quilting with janome 1600 db

Question

I have just purchased a sturdy lite grace quilter frame with the Janome 1600 db. Do I use the darning plate when free motion quilting? (am I right that the feed dogs do not drop on this machine?) Is there any detailed book for quilting on the frame with this machine? I am an experienced sewer and have quilted over 10 large quilts on my Singer futura CE200 (which I have had no problems with, except that it is very hard to quilt a large quilt on) but I feel a little lost with this new machine and the frame.
