  1. strange

  2. I hadn't heard that. Strange.... But they are French after all!

  3. It is a shame that many talented young artists are not going to have the chance to show case their voice on the world stage.

Pre-recorded anthems suck - bad move France.

  4. Its Their world cup let them do want they want But next time they want to host it they will find perhaps they are not first choice.

  5. That's quite some narcissism, to think that the French are coming up with this policy to exclude your daughter because you think she helps the All Blacks win.

**EDIT - I'm referring to Hayley's father Gerald as the narcissist, according to his statements in the article you linked to.**

Still, it does somewhat sterilize the event, doesn't it?  A good live rendition is more interesting than a canned recording (whether you support one side, the other, or are yourself totally neutral).

On the other hand, I've been to enough events where people sang the national anthem in such a cringe inducing way as to be mildly grateful that this won't happen.

  6. fFrance can't have much pride in their own National Anthem, What next the banning of the Hakka?

  7. France (like America) is in decline and just like us they focus on something inconsequential (like we do with flag burning or stem cells or euthanasia) rather than deal with racism / socialism run amok or their diminished world standing.
