Hello I was thinking on going to France this summer, do you reccomend a certain place to go, Paris, South of France? And, should I go on a touristy trip in hotels, or a biking trip? And can you tell me a little bit about France?

  1. There are alot of places you can visit in France!!!

France is the best place in the world!!!

    1. Boutique a la Vagine

    2. Arc de Testiclesouigh

    3. Palace a vouz HOEsieur

  2. I think to spend few days in France, the best is the moutains. In Alpen (East of France), you can see the highest moutain of Europa (Mont-Blanc), there is so wonderful landscapes, with lakes, moutains, nice cities,...

And the life in cities like Annecy, Grenoble or Lyon (or Geneva in Switzerland) is really cool in summer, with animation, and what you want !

Come in France, a nice country !

  3. Well, it's a very vague question. France has such a diversity of landscapes and cultures considering the relative small size of its territory (by American or world standards, because it's actually the largest country in Western Europe). So if it's your first time and you have at least a week, I would suggest doing Paris and another region (but not another city, something more rural).

My personal favorites that seem to be completely ignored by most Americans are Brittany (western France) and the Dordogne (slightly south west). If you have a week maximum and decide to go to Paris, then a 2/3-day trip to Normandy, Burgundy or the Loire Valley is another option.

Avoid the Riviera in the summer but other southern regions are worth visiting. The most spectacular landscapes are definitely in the south of France. Another region forgotten by Americans is the region around Carcassonne.

There are as many ways of traveling as you can imagine: public transportation (but it's hard to get outside cities and main towns), driving, boating along a river or canal, mountain biking, hiking, horse-back riding, hot air balloons... All these activities are very well developped anywhere in France. So it really depends on what kind of vacation you like. As for accomodation, it is cheap in France compared to America and once again, there is so much to choose from everywhere: camping, renting a house, renting a boat, Bed & Breakfast, hotels & hostels...

The first thing to do is get more info on France and see what attracts you there so you can choose where to go. The following website gives you a brief overview of French regions. Then, look for more info online about the regions that appeal to you the most and then you can choose which type of accomodation or traveling you want. Outside Paris I would avoid hotels. B&B are more charming or if you are staying a week somewhere self-catering rentals are the cheapest option. Your choice will also depend on whether you are traveling on your own or not. If you are young, youth hostels are a way of meeting people your age. http://www.francemonthly.com/

  4. Certainly all of France is worth a vist but if this is your first trip then Paris is clearly the place to go.

Scenery is scenery and if you're going to the trouble and expense of getting to France then you really ought to begin by seeing Paris which, even with a lifetime to see could occupy you 24/7 with art, culture and history.

Nor do I understand the notion that staying in a hotel is "touristy" as opposed to a biking trip which is...what? Non-touristy? Hardly.

  5. For a biking trip I'd go to the Loire Valley with it's famous castles. Lovely Nature/Villages. South of France will be very busy...

  6. all depends on what you want to see :

    country, seashore, cities, culture, mountains...

it depends on the weather you want to have...

it depends on the money you want to spend...

(i'm french and i don't like paris, so i can't give you the advice to go to this city...)
