France defeats Korea 3-1 in a FIVB Men’s World League match - Volleyball news

A Pool C match of the FIVB World League – Men saw the French compete with the Koreans on June 22, 2012 in the Korean city of Gwangju. The venue of the competition was the Yeomju Gymnasium. The match between the two sides went on for four sets at the end
of which the French were able to secure victory.
The score board showed the following final set scores: 25-21, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-15.
The recent win has enabled the French to move to a tournament record of 5-2 while the Koreans have fallen to an unimpressive record of 1-6.
The coach of the French squad, Blain Philippe, shared his joy at the win in the following words, “I am very happy, although we did not get the second set which we could have won. I would like to thank to our team members who showed a great performance today.”
On the other hand, the Korean coach, Park Ki-won, expressed himself at the performance of the team in the following words: “Today, I used young players for the match, but they did not show their best performance in front of Korean volleyball fans, who put
pressure on the players. This was the main reason for today’s defeat.”
The top scorer of the match was the Korean player Park Chul-Woo who was able to keep the pressure on the French by putting up 22 points for his side. However, the second best scorer on the Korean squad was Song Myung-Geun who could only manage seven points.
On the other hand, the French were led by Earvin Ngapeth who tallied a score of 16 points in the match.
The opening set of the game started off with both the teams playing equally well but eventually the French were able to take the lead based on their strong defensive techniques. As a result, Korea began to lag behind while the French stuck with the advantage
till the end of the first frame at 25-21.
Korea did not lose heart and encouraged by the cheers of the home crowd managed to take the lead early on in the second set of the game. However, the French kept close as the service reception of the Koreans was not strong. Despite that, Korea was able make
the match reach a tie by bagging the second set at 25-23.
The loss of the second set did not sit well with the French who stormed ahead in the third frame and made a quick job of securing it at 25-16. The Koreans started the fourth set with less motivation that made it all the more easier for the French to assert
their dominance and get hold of another easy win at 25-15.
