Question:

France ferry without a car?

I'm planning on going to Paris soon and would like to get the cheapest travel without flying. I think going by ferry would be cheapest but all the prices I can find are per car. Is there any way of getting the ferry without a car and if so, how would I get from the port to disneyland paris?

  1. You can go onboard as a foot passenger I'm not sure how you'd get to Disneyland. Have you looked at Eurostar? You can get some quite cheap seats if you book at the right time (I've read about it, but can't remember when you should book, I'm sure your travel agent could help). Eurostar has a station right at Disney. Maybe the extra you spend on the train would work out cheaper in time and money than getting transport from the ferry.

  2. go on www.brittanyferries.com and you can get a quote from there for going as a foot passenger. Its really good, you can take as much luggage as you can carry. Then you can catch a train or bus when you get to france. Or a taxi even. Do you speak french or just going for a holiday? Anyway you should have a brilliany time. I love france

  3. You can get foot passenger prices on all the ferry operator websites, but eurostar would be better as that takes you directly to paris

  4. Eurostar would be better, but you can get a foor passenger fare usually

  5. Where are you going from.  If it is from England, there are several crossing, and they do offer foot traffic fares.

    But, it would be h**l of a time getting to the port.  Why do not you go by bus, they will take care of everything.

    And the bus goes to Paris, and from there, there is direct train connection to Disneyland.

    But, if you are in the Estate, I would go to Disney world instead, anytime, anyday.

  6. Hello,

    There are several routes which you can take to travel from the UK to Paris by Sea-Rail. I have listed them below;

    Brittany Ferries (www.brittanyferries.co.uk);

    Poole - Cherbourg

    Portsmouth - Caen

    Portsmouth - Cherbourg

    LD Lines (www.LDlines.co.uk);

    Portsmouth - Le Havre

    Transmanche Ferries (www.transmancheferries.com);

    Newhaven - Dieppe

    P&O Ferries (www.poferries.com);

    Dover - Calais

    SeaFrance (www.seafrance.com);

    Dover - Calais.

    All of the above ports have rail connections with Paris (www.voyages-sncf.com) from where you can take the RER (French Metro) to Disneyland Paris (Marne-la-Vallee is the station you need)

    Hope this all helps

    John

  7. For a group or even more than one person travelling it is normally cheaper to go on the ferry with a car.

  8. Yes there are foot passenger prices, last time I did it 5 years ago it was £12 one way, probably a bit more by now. Depends which port you're going to. If you go into Calais then you may as well go on the Eurostar instead - Calais is only practical for Paris if you have a car. There also used to be direct Eurostars at certain times of the year from London to Eurodisney - might be worth a look to see if they still exist.

    You can get from Ouistreham (Caen) to Paris easily by train, that's the route I used most usually. On the Seafrance site below you can book as a foot passenger - where it says "vehicle type" on the booking form you have "foot passenger" as an option. The "aferry" site below compares prices from all carriers out of the UK, also has foot passenger as an option. Use raileurope for train tickets in France, link below; just checked and you can get a Eurostar London-Lille and then a TGV direct from Lille to Eurodisney - have to book that well in advance though.
