France handed a £2,500 fine for offense during haka - Rugby World Cup News
France has been handed over a fine of £2,500 by International Rugby Board (IRB) for making an offensive during haka, the traditional war dance of New Zealand, on October 24. The French coach declared the penalty harsh and said his side did not have any aggressive
design against the All Blacks.
The Haka is a tribal dance that was normally performed before the start of wars. The All Blacks are keeping this tradition alive by performing it before the start of their rugby matches. During the period they are performing haka the opposing side is expected
to watch the display from a defined distance. The sides have to stay 10 meters behind their half line but the French side accelerated their way forward from that point and ultimately faced the fine.
All Blacks perform the haka with full zeal and zest and thus try to pressure the opponents before the start of match. Meanwhile, it is a patience testing activity for the other side as they are directed to bear the whole happening without any reaction.
Meanwhile, French coach Marc Lievremont has said that his tried to stop before going to so close to the All Blacks and the penalty was of severe nature. The coach added that there was obviously a bit move from his team but the matter was not that much severe
nature to be fine over.
The skipper for France, Thierry Dusautoir, also talked the media about the issue and said that, “At one stage we were so close to them that they wanted to kiss the New Zealanders, but I told them to take it easy. It was a great moment and a moment we will
remember all our lives.”
All Blacks captain Richie McCaw also commented about the incident and said that his team was expecting some discouraging remarks by the rivals as they had come so close to them. He added that, “We talked that they'd bring something different and they did,
but the game doesn't start until the whistle blows does it?”
France managed to show aggression on the field as well and proved tough competitors for All Blacks and lost by one point.
