I heard that many places in France are closed in August. Is this true? If so, does this include tourist attractions like the Louvre and Eiffel Tower?

  1. August is the time where many shops close, not tourist attractions. All the museums are open as well as the Eiffel Tower and other sites. Restaurants in the main areas are open as well since this is their best season.

Here is the site for the Paris tourist information, hope it will help.

    Have a nice trip

  2. France is a tough place to visit in Paris since it is the official "holiday" month. A lof of restaurants and shops are closed during this time.  I don't think this affects the major tourist attractions like the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.

  3. August could be hot in Paris, but the tourist attractions are not closed, so, Bon voyage !

  4. The entire European Continent vacations in August. Definitely check with the French Tourist Bureau before you leave. If they are open, then keep in your mind that there can be labor strikes at any time. Expect nothing, be surprised. No matter what, you can always see the Tower and Triomphe and many other places from the outside. Don't worry, let yourself have fun. It is such a beautiful place all around.
